Jeff Franquet Joins NYSA Staff As Master Lesson Instructor

New York Softball Academy Director, Jamie Apicella has announced that Georgian Court University Head Softball Coach, Jeff Franquet will join the staff as one of the lead instructors for 2009.

In his first year as head coach, Franquet led the Lions Softball squad to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship and first-ever NCAA Division II Regional Tournament. In 2008, Coach Franquet returned his squad to the 2008 NCAA Division II Regional Tournament and repeated as CACC Champions. For his efforts, Franquet was selected as the 2007 and 2008 CACC Softball Coach of the Year.


“The addition of Jeff Franquet to the New York Softball Academy staff brings us a 1st class coach with extraordinary knowledge and playing experience in the game of softball”, Apicella said. “He has had success at every level and will provide our academy participants with a passionate philosophy about the game and his experiences.”


From 2003-2005, Franquet served as Head Softball Coach at Division I Jacksonville University (Jacksonville, FL). While there, Franquet saw victories over powerhouse teams such as Florida State, Hofstra University, Southern Illinois, and many more. Under Franquet's tuttelage, the Dolphins created the 28th highest scoring offense in the country. In addition, Franquet has coached two 1st Team ASUN All-Conference players and two 1st Team ASUN All-Freshmen.

Franquet's college coaching career began in 1999 as the Head Softball Coach at Central Florida Community College. In just two years, Franquet amassed a record of 82-47 (.635).


Franquet's success as a coach can be attributed to his accomplishments on the diamond as a player. Throughout his 21-year softball career, which includes 4 years of professional ball, Franquet has earned 16 MVP Honors, played in two world championships, nine national championships, as well as 15 regional and 17 state championships.


In addition to his duties at Georgian Court, Franquet is also the head coach for the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch League.
Coach Franquet resides in Beverly, NJ with his wife Brooke and daughter, Madison (5).
